The Passover

The Lord told Moses that he would send the angel of death tokill the first born sons in Egypt, which also included cattle, sheep, and goats. This is a symbol of God slaughtering the gods of Egypt. God gave the Israelitesone way to save their sons. They were told to take a lamb, sacrafice it, spread its blood over their doors, and eat it as part of a sacred meal. The angel of death would pass over the houses with the blood over the doorpost, and spare the lives of the first born sons. The instructions for the ceremonial feast were that the Israelites should eat unlevened bread, roasted lamb, and that they should feast with their traveling clothes on. For the rest of time the Israelian children were to observe a weeklong Passover every year.
