Moses and his brother Aaron went back to Egypt to confront Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery. When Pharaoh refused to let them go and gave the Israelites more work, God, who sent Moses to confront Pharaoh, sent the Ten Plagues unto Egypt.

The Ten Plagues began with the Plague of Blood. In this plague, the river Nile, the Egyptians' main source of water, was turned to blood. Moses warned Pharaoh of the plague to come but he still refused. The Pharaoh didn't believe this was a signal of God's intervention because his magicians could reproduce something that appeared to be the same.

The second of the plagues also came after a warning from God to Pharaoh through Moses. This was the Plague of frogs. In this plague, frogs came to cover the lands of Egypt. Pharaoh once again refused to believe this sign of God because of his magicians.

The third plague to befall Egypt came with no warning. This was the plague of gnats. In this plague swarms of gnats came to Egypt.

Then came a warning and the fourth plague, the plague of flies, which covered all of Egypt except Goshen, where the Israelites lived.

Next, after warning, was the fifth plague, the plague on Egyptian cattle. This killed the livestock in the fields throughout Egypt.

The sixth plague came with no warning. The plague of boils was exactly as it sounds, an epidemic of boils across Egypt.

The seventh plague, that of hail, came after yet another warning. This hail killed all animals and humans out in the fields. Once again, Goshen was left unharmed.

The plague of locusts, the eighth plague, sent swarms of locusts, which eat plants, to Egypt. This destroyed much of the crops.
