The Burning Bushburning_bush.jpg
One day, while hearding his cattle, Moses (now eighty years old) was confronted with a peculiar sight. A bush on the side of Mount Herb in Sinai appeared to be burning, yet not being burned up. The bush spoke to Moses, revealing that it was the Lord. God identified himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This was the God of the people of Israel, God's own covenant family. God ordered Moses to go back to Egypt and lead Isreal to freedom. Moses was reluctant at first, but God comforted him by totally revealing himself. He told Moses "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I am has sent me to you." Moses did as the Lord asked. Moses lead the people physically, but the Lord himself was truly the leader.
